Championship Barbecue Cooking Competition

With 24 teams competing for the coveted ‘Weber King Of The Grill 2012′ trophy over the course of the weekend, you’ll witness first-hand the skills of the very best BBQ Pitmasters and Grill-Chefs from the UK, Europe and the US.

Throughout the weekend, the teams will be sending food out to the tasting tent where festival visitors can sample their cooking skills first hand.

Selected Head Chefs from each of the teams will be running free BBQ Masterclasses throughout the weekend as part of the Newman’s Own BBQ Academy.

Grillstock is a two-day festival and the King of the Grill competition will run across both days. Entry to the competition costs £150 per team.

We've worked with King of the Grill 'Head Judge' Dr.BBQ on a new set of competition rules for 2012.

Dr. BBQ has been cooking in American BBQ cook-offs since 1982. In those 30 years Ray has cooked in hundreds of contests including fifteen American Royals, Five Jack Daniel’s, Memphis in May, and dozens of other major championships winning awards at all of them. In 2011 alone Ray won two Grand Championships in the US.

He’s judged at all the big cook-offs including two stints at the Jack Daniel’s World’s Championship, two stops at Grillstock, and a full season with Guy Fieri on the Food Network Show “Tailgate Warriors”. He’s been a KCBS member since 1991 and is a Master Certified BBQ Judge.
