Guy Fieri’s Knuckle Sandwich Chef Knife Range Get First UK Public Display at Grillstock!

Another first for Grillstock! Thanks to those forward-thinking folk at The American BBQ Company, Guy Fieri’s Knuckle Sandwich range of chef knives will be on public display for the first time in the UK – and might even be available for sale!

The Story Behind Guy’s Knives

In 2007 Guy met the designers of Ergo Chef at a gourmet show, used their cutlery on stage during his demo and was given a set to take home. After a year of wear and tear in his kitchen – which can be a knife gauntlet – he was hooked on the quality and design of Ergo Chef’s product. And before he knew it, he was teaming up with them to develop his own collection. Together they sketched a range of designs looking for the select few that really rocked technically and aesthetically.

And if you’re wondering why The American BBQ Company happens to be stocking these, you might just want to take a look at some of their other products that can be found in diners and drive-ins, or drives and backyards across the USA and, increasingly, here in the UK.

Knuckle Sandwich Run Down

Apart from looking great and handling even better, here are a few reasons why you might want to think about adding Guy’s knives to your collection:

  • The knives’ handles are all one piece from bolster to the polished end cap
  • The blades are precision heat treated to 56RC to keep a great edge
  • The triple-tang of the handle is injection-moulded to create a permanent and seamless bond.
  • Patented ergonomic design is created to be an extension of your hand for natural comfort
  • Made of high carbon German stainless steel (X50CrMoV15) for stain resistance
  • Full tang and abbreviated bolster adds strength and balance
  • Hollow ground ovals in blade promote less stick and smoother cuts
  • Cutouts precisely calculated to balance the knife based on blade weight

Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker is a showstopper!

The Smokey Mountain Cooker is a totally unique BBQ that allows you to slow cook and smoke meat, poultry and fish to perfection over three tiered sections.

The charcoal burns in the bottom section, and then for smoky barbecue aromas add a few fist-sized chunks of hardwood to the coals right from the beginning.  Water sits in a pan in the middle section, preventing any fat from dripping on to the coals and, more importantly, keeping the temperature nice and low.  The meat sits on one or two racks in the top section.  Weber has wood chunks in pecan, apple, cherry, hickory and mequite so you can inject exciting flavours into your barbecue recipes.

The Big BBQ

Orchid, the male cancer charity, and the Fabulous Baker Brothers (Tom and Henry Herbert) are calling on people across the UK to fire up their BBQ’s and get their bangers out this June or anytime during the summer months to host their own ‘Big BBQ’ and raise awareness of male cancer.

With plenty of occasions to get the great British Summer underway, the Big BBQ aims to get men fired up about their health and encourage them to get together with family, friends and colleagues to be the BBQ King and raise much needed funds for Orchid as well as awareness of testicular, prostate and penile cancers, highlighting signs and symptoms and encouraging self checks.

Get fired up for charcoal with Weber’s Chimney Starter

Weber’s chimney starter takes the stress and struggle out of lighting a charcoal barbecue.

Simply place Weber firelighters in the bottom of the chimney starter and load the charcoal briquettes into the top. Light the firelighters, stand the chimney starter on the cooking grate, and wait for the smoke to start flowing through the briquettes.

The coals will eventually ignite, but don’t tip them out just yet. Wait until the flames have died down and the charcoal briquettes are coated in a fine grey ash – usually around 20 minutes. Then simply tip the chimney starter up using the handle (and a heat-proof mitt) and pour the hot coals into the barbecue. Replace the cooking grate and you’re fired up and ready to cook!
